Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Issues Special Media Clarification

The Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development has issued a special media clarification in response to allegations made during a press conference by Asela Sampath, Chairman of the National Movement for the Protection of Consumer Rights, claiming that a senior ministry official had extended support to an agricultural investment company.

According to the Ministry, although allegations were made against a senior official for allegedly favoring a particular agricultural company, the party making the claims failed to provide any specific information, the name of the official concerned, or any evidence to substantiate the accusations.

The Ministry categorically rejects what it describes as baseless allegations made without clear or verifiable facts.

The statement further emphasizes that the present National People’s Power (NPP) Government and the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development remain firmly committed to upholding the highest standards of transparency, integrity, and anti-corruption principles in the public service.

The Ministry also states that if any written complaint supported by credible evidence is submitted, both the Ministry and the Minister are prepared to initiate an immediate and impartial investigation into the matter.

The Ministry therefore urges individuals to refrain from making false or misleading statements targeting public officials and the Ministry without factual basis. It further calls on anyone with genuine allegations to present them responsibly, together with supporting evidence, through the appropriate channels.
